Claude K. Bell’s Dinosaurs

During the 1970s and 1980s, sculptor Claude K. Bell created two larger-than-life dinosaur statues — first, an Apatosaurus, late a Tyrannosaurus, seen in the above souvenir postcards — to stand outside the “Wheel Inn Restaurant” truck stop at Cabazon, CA. The Apatosaurus is hollow, serving as a “museum” and gift shop.

Montages of some of the many postcards featuring Bell’s dinosaurs.
